Help Fatima Get Her Autistic Service Dog
Hello!
Our daughter Fatima has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This causes her issues with social communication, anxiety, repetitive behaviors, and frequent meltdowns.
We recognized early on that Fatima suffered from sensory overload which often caused moderate to severe meltdowns. These meltdowns could trigger behaviors which could cause her bodily harm. Over time we realized that interacting with animals helped calm her down more than anything else. Our dogs have had an incredible impact on her ability to self-soothe when meltdowns or anxiety attacks occur, but they can't be with her all the time.
Her doctor and Behavioral Health Psychologist recommend Fatima work with a service dog to help navigate the daily challenges she faces. We are hoping to raise funds to provide Fatima with a trained service dog.
Trained service dogs for people with ASD generally cost $10,000-$30,000. Our goal is to raise enough money to help with the costs of purchasing, training, and caring for a dedicated service dog.
