In Loving Memory of Hannah Chin
If you were lucky enough to know Hannah, you were blessed with her smile, laughter, good-nature, generosity, and humor. If you were lucky enough to know Hannah, you were treated to the fattest, juiciest, most delicious dumpling. If you weren’t lucky enough to know her, you missed out, because she was one of the best people I knew or will ever know. So, it’s with a heavy heart and sadness that we share the tragic news of her passing on April 17th, after a year-long battle with kidney cancer.
She fought bravely through the long days and nights of chemotherapy and pain. She endured doctor’s appointments, hospitalizations, and countless medications until the very end. James, her husband of 35 years, endured it all with her and never wavered in his devotion as he stood vigil by her side, in the last moments of her life.
Not only was Hannah a beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend, but she was also known as THE BEST MOM EVER to her three children: Joy (married to son-in-law, Zach), Michael, and Elizabeth. She was also a grandmother to 2 grandkids. All of whom, will now have to navigate life without her.
In life, people gravitated towards Hannah because she was genuinely a good person. She was easygoing, quick-witted, and made friends easily. She created lifelong friendships because her heart was full of love and care for others. And in turn, she was loved so deeply by many. Now in death, we grieve and mourn for our dear friend, Hannah.
A year ago, no one would’ve predicted this. Everyone had other plans and ideas of where they’d be and/or what they’d be doing. Although we wish things hadn’t turned out this way, here we are, planning a funeral service. Because Hannah's cancer was already in advanced stages when initially diagnosed, James was unable to work and took time away from his teaching position to care for her.
