Hi friends! Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
My name is Sumarni, and I have some bad news to share with you. On March 22, 2024 I had a really bad headache at work and fell to the ground and lost my vision. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance and was placed in a medically induced coma. The brain scans showed that I had a ruptured aneurysm with a level 5 bleeding. Since then, I have had many procedures to save my life including drains, a brain catheter and the removal of part of my skull. I have had complications including multiple strokes and spams. I am also fighting infections in my body and brain, including pneumonia. Despite all of this, I keep fighting hard to make a recovery. I am not able to write this, as I am unconscious in an ICU, Neuro unit at Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital. My family asks for your help as I have a really long journey ahead on the road to my recovery. Thank you for the help, love and support. Blessings!
Nino is an affectionate, energetic, and playful kitten.
This past fall, my boyfriend was working outside when Nino walked up to him and hopped into his truck. He called me and asked what to do with the tiny stray cat that had gotten in his truck. My response was, “he chose you.” Since that night, Nino has been a part of our family and home. Nino has the tendency to escape the house when he pleases. Whether it be running under our feet, or escaping through a hole in the basement, he has always found a way to play outside. Last night, Nino got out and he didn’t come back. I yelled for him and opened the doors for him, but still could not find him. Finally, Nino wobbles to the back door. We immediately knew he was not okay. We brought him in and put him on the heated blanket to assess what happened. He was yowling, crying, and hissing in pain. He could barely walk. His face was swollen. His tail was limp. He was dragging his leg. He collapsed from pain. I knew I was going to receive bad news from the vet, but nothing could prepare me for the reality of his injuries. Nino has suffered from a spinal cord injury, possible fractured pelvis, fractured hip, and a cranial fracture in his eye. After an expensive vet visit and x-rays, we were told we had two options; see an orthopedic vet for surgery or put him down. We were referred to a veterinarian 2-hours away, who could help him better. I cannot fathom putting down my kitten who has so much life in him. Even in the midst of his injuries and pain, he was still purring when he would see me or when someone would pet him. He is at home, resting, on pain medication at this time. The cost of surgery, medications, and additional x-rays/vet visits will cost at a minimum $5000. Although this price is high, Nino will heal and that is what matters to me. He is an otherwise young, healthy, and happy kitten who was unfortunately hit by a car. I am asking for a chance for him. He is asking for a chance from me, but I have no means to pay for his treatment. Without his surgery and treatment, I will have no choice but to put him down, so he does not have to suffer in pain any longer than he has. Please help in anyway. I am heartbroken and want my kitten to live.
With a heavy heart, we are reaching out to our friends and donors to share,
that Erik our beloved son passed away suddenly Friday morning. On Tuesday, April 2nd, Erik’s parents checked him out of school early because he developed what seemed to be a very typical case of the stomach bug. Erik returned to school on Thursday after symptoms subsided, but symptoms returned later in the day at school and his parents checked him out again. He was able to eat and drink that afternoon and appeared to improve. However, later in the evening his condition worsened. The parents took him to a local pediatrician’s office, then to the hospital. Unfortunately, by the time Erik arrived at the hospital, his condition became dire, and he passed away early Friday morning. We are so thankful for the care received by all the medical community. Erik came from a large, loving Christian family who valued faith, family, community, and education for their children. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. The family has no health insurance. They are now facing significant financial challenges, including funeral costs and loss of income as they take time off work to grieve. They have four other children at home and a grandmother to care for. We are seeking the community’s support to raise initial funds of $10,000 to assist the family during this difficult time. The funeral is scheduled for this week at Baptist Church. Thank you in advance for considering giving to Erik’s family
